The alleged danger of fats

The myth that "low fat is healthy“ has distorted our understanding of nutrition - it is the quality, not the quantity of fat that matters.

In the field of nutrition, numerous factoids have taken hold, shaping our understanding of health. In particular, the claim that fat must be avoided at all costs, has led to distorted eating habits. Under the motto "low fat is healthy“, many products have been enriched with sugar or additives to maintain taste and texture - often with negative consequences for health.

Rather than considering the quality of fats, there has been a long-standing, generalized caution against fats. As a result, healthy fats - such as those from nuts, fish or olive oil - were pushed into the background, while highly processed, sugar-rich foods were promoted. This shows how misinformation can affect the understanding of healthy eating and thus public health in the long term.
